Hi there! My name is Mary Lyle, owner/operator of Rockin-Bobbins. I work from a studio in my home in Liverpool, New York. Let me tell you a little bit about myself, and my business.

As a teenager in the early seventies nearly six feet tall, I found it virtually impossible to find clothing that fit properly. I began to sew for myself at age twelve, guided by my mother and grandmother, took a few classes at a Singer Sewing Center, and I was hooked! I began sewing a lot of my own clothing, and improving my skills each year. As I grew older and my life changed, I found myself going from making my wedding gown to baby layettes, and suddenly, I was fitting my daughter in her first prom gown.

Twelve years working for a family owned fabric store afforded me the opportunity to learn from my associates about special occasion sewing, costuming, quilting, home decorating, etc. and I took advantage of free classes offered to employees. Soon I began teaching sewing classes to adults and children, but was always anxious to learn more.

In 1992, I earned my Master Seamstress Certificate from the University of Rhode Island Cooperative Extension, and then began my own home sewing business. I love to sew and I enjoy meeting new people, so Rockin-Bobbins is the perfect “fit” for me……
